Longwood Edge Petition

Longwood Edge Tree Planting

Kirklees Council Asset Board are due to consider uses for the council owned fields at Longwood Edge.  Rather than allocating this space for housing, we believe the council should take the opportunity to plant trees on the 16.5 hectares of land.  Planting trees will -

  • Contribute to carbon reduction
  • Improve biodiversity
  • Provide a beautiful and natural amenity that can be enjoyed by all local residents

Kirklees Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 setting out a vision to become carbon neutral by 2038. If the Labour run council are serious about this pledge, the must take advantage of opportunities like Longwood Edge and plant rather than bulldoze and build.

Please add your name to this petition and make sure your voice is heard.

I support tree planting on Council owned land at Longwood Edge and am opposed to any plans that would involve residential or commercial developments on the site.
